Common sense prevails.......at last!

Broadland District Council's Planning Committee have turned down an application from Building Partnerships to develop an office complex at Dakenham Barns by a majority of 12 to1.

Councillor Tony Adams from Hellesdon told the EDP ""Everything we are considering is based on the previous government's ideas, or lack of them. We have already had one letter from Eric Pickles about the regional strategy being thrown out of the window. Anything that they put forward would be very dangerous at this stage until things become clear."

Councillors listened to common sense and rejected officers appeals - well done!!

  2. ....and the Officers appealed or was it appalled. I watched this debate and their attempts to influence the outcome were sickening.

  3. Well done Stephen,I would have loved to have been there to have witnessed this event. The arguements you put forward so well in your speech, would have been very difficult to overcome, and when added together with the doubts regarding the new governments policies were clearly enough to get this unpopular scheme turned down, nearly unanimously, which speaks volumes for our cause.

  4. Great News. I gather that the Chairman proposed the refusal and called the Rackheath Ecotown a "fairytale". Well done for her. We have always been told that the entire Conservative Group support the Labour Ecotown, but obviously this isd not correct.

  5. Great news indeed for our loocal democracy. At last our elected Councillors are listening to us. With one Industrial Estate built by Broadland years ago with good access and still spare room why did we ever need another one ?

  6. The planning application for Dakenham Hall Barns was refused due to the reliance on what are now discredited national and regional policies. Does this now mean that the approval for the Postwick Hub in Feb needs to be revisited as it used the same discredited policies? What about the planning application for the 200 exemplar homes designed to showcase the build quality for the much larger proposed Eco town? Will that now not go ahead?
