Norfolk County Council leader, Daniel Cox, has had yet another re-shuffle and this time has removed Ian Monson from his role as environment and waste cabinet member. This role is to be merged into a new sustainable development post which will be led by Ann Steward.
Mr Cox is quoted in today's EDP as saying " we need Norfolk to grow, but it must be sustainable growth. We cannot allow unrestricted growth at the risk of Norfolk's precious environmental asset. Achieving both these objectives will be a tough call but I believe that bringing both under the remit of one Cabinet Member is the best way of doing so."
We can only wait and hope ..... however Ms Steward is already a member of the Greater Norwich Development Partnership policy group.

Growth... that pre-requisite of the capitalist system can be had at no cost to the environment. I do not think so. Daniel Cox has found a way and he calls it sustainability.
ReplyDeleteWhat he cannot say is how much such a sustainable system will cost.
However the Green Party see thousands of jobs in sustainable living. Will you have a choice as to whether or not you you subscribe to this utopia
