Build a New Community Conference - help shape the future of Rackheath

Voluntary Norfolk is hosting a conference in Norwich  for Broadland District Council and Communities and Local Government on 30th March. In the flyer advertising the event they say " you will doubtless have heard that one of the government's new flagship Eco-Towns is to be built at Rackheath here in Norfolk".

Voluntary Norfolk is the major volunteering organisation in Norfolk and as such do a very good job, however, it is disappointing that they seem unaware that the eco-town is still just a proposal and is NOT a 'done deal'. Broadland District Council and Communities and Local Government should have made this clear when arranging this event.

Most of the community in Rackheath would prefer to shape their own future and it would not include a major new town built on local farmland.

  1. Volunteer Norfolk did not have the courtesy to include any of the Rackheath Voluntary organisations in their pre-meeting discussions.

The Flyers incidentally were paid for by Broadland District Council and the Department for Communities and Local Government.
