Press release: Grassroots Action Fund Award Grant to SNUB

July 2012: The Grassroots Action Support Fund (GAS Fund) has awarded a grant of £2,000 to Stop Norwich Urbanisation (SNUB).

As a finalist for the Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) Local Campaigner Award 20101, SNUB was eligible to make a pitch for a grant from the2 GAS Fund.

SNUB is a non-affiliated group of local residents, who have joined together to express concerns about the urbanisation of the City of Norwich. They take their mandate directly from local citizens.

SNUB successfully won the bid after a ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch by SNUB’s chair Stephen Heard.

“The award will provide a much needed morale boost to the supporters of SNUB and in particularly the core team who work tirelessly behind the scenes campaigning for a better and well balanced Norwich and Norfolk. I also hope that it will provide heart to the CPRE Alliance on Housing which consists of many similar like minded campaign groups who are working together to see an overall reduction in the 36,000 houses called for in the Joint Core Strategy.”

The Grassroots Action Fund is a small-grant initiative set up by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and SMK to support eligible grassroots campaigners with limited resources.
